A classic quarter-muncher is heading to the DS. Eidos has revealed plans to bring Gauntlet to Nintendo DS later this year. The legendary dungeon crawler lets you become an Elf, Warrior, Wizard, or Valkyrie and scour the depths of a dungeon. The DS version will add wireless multiplayer, even allowing Voiceover IP so you can yell at your friends over the Internet to stop hogging all the treasure.

MTV Games and Penny Arcade are teaming up for a good deed. Today they are releasing the PAX Pack, a collection of three downloadable songs for Rock Band. The proceeds from the sale of the songs will go to the Child\'s Play Charity, which provides toys, books, and games for children recovering in hospitals. One of the three songs is Livin’ On The Corner Of Dude And Catastrophe by MC Frontalot, which may very well be the greatest song title in history. Rock out and support a good cause.

And the PAX Pack isn\'t the only charitable event Rock Band\'s involved in. They\'re also supporting LIFEbeat, a non-profit group of musicians who are out to raise AIDS awareness. On September 6th, LIFEbeat and Rock Band 2 will sponsor a concert at LA\'s House Of Blues to spread the word. Panic At The Disco and Plain White T’s will perform, so if you\'re in Los Angeles this weekend, be sure to check it out.

Could a Guitar Hero be headed to the big screen? If director Brett Ratner has his way, then yes. The Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand director wants to make a movie based on Activision’s Guitar Hero. Apparently, Ratner is trying to convince the publisher to let him make a movie. Ratner is also the director behind the God Of War movie. Well, at least people who like videogames are finally the ones making movies based on games.

Babylon appears to be crumbling. Babylon A.D., starring Vin Diesel, opened this weekend and from all box office accounts appears to be fading fast. The film finished behind Tropic Thunder, which has already been in theatres for the past three weeks. The 70 million dollar movie’s director, Mathieu Kassovitz, even went so far as to disown the film last week. Maybe the title was an omen.

Pretty soon The Dark Knight is going to be as rich as Bruce Wayne. Studio heads at Warner Bros. are saying that the movie has pulled in 919 million dollars worldwide. Yes, close to a billion dollars. That includes 500 million in the U.S. alone, where the movie is second only to Titanic as the top-grossing movie of all time, not adjusted for inflation of course. Warner Bros. is predicting the movie could net another 50 million in the U.S. alone before its run is complete. And don\'t forget, the Blu-ray release is coming December 8th, where we suspect the movie will make a couple more bucks.

Wanna be in the next Spider-Man movie? There\'s an auction on E-Bay offering a walk-on roll in the, as yet officially unannounced, movie. Yep, apparently it\'s legit. The winning bid will get to visit the set of the next Spider-Man film and attend the New York premiere. Proceeds from the auction will go to Stand Up To Cancer. Let\'s hope they don\'t cast the lead this way, otherwise Richard Branson or Warren Buffett will be the next Spider-Man.

The Voltron: Defender Of The Universe movie is getting closer to becoming a reality. Reports are saying that the movie now has a director, Max Makowski. Makowski is also directing the film version of the old TV series Kung-Fu. His other credits include the movie One Last Dance, and several episodes of Queer Eye For The Straight Guy. Well, at least we can expect Voltron to be fashionable.

The story of one of the Beatle\'s early years is coming to the big screen. The movie, Nowhere Boy, from Control screenwriter Matt Greenhalgh will focus on the life of a young John Lennon. The biopic will show Lennon growing up with his aunt and mother, and his friendship with John McCartney. The film will be shot in Liverpool, where Lennon grew up. No word yet on who will be cast as Lennon or McCartney.

Disney is supporting Blu-ray in a big way. Disney has announced that they\'re set to release five more Platinum Collection editions of their animated classics. Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, and Beauty And The Beast will all be made available in multidisc sets. Sleeping Beauty, the first Platinum Collection Disney animated flick, will be released on October 7th.

A different kind of hero is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on November 25th. Hancock, features Will Smith as a down-and-out anti-hero. The home video version will come with seven bonus featurettes and screen-within-screen interactivity. It looks like Kung-Fu Panda will also be released the same day; maybe the two of them can battle it out.

The Cure\'s first album in four years will be released on October 14th. Yes, October 14th. That kind of messes with our heads, since they\'ve been releasing singles on the 13th for the past four months and the album is called 4? Dream. The album also features remixes from AFI’s Jade Puget and My Chemical Romance\'s Gerard Way among others. Can anything top Disintegration? I guess we’ll find out next month when 4:13 Dream is released.
