Street Date

The long wait is almost over. We finally know when you’ll be able to take to the streets again. Capcom has announced that it will finally release Street Fighter IV on February 17th for the PS3 and 360. The highly anticipated title will be the first new Street Fighter game in almost ten years, and will feature the same classic set of characters that you fell in love with back in the early 90’s. Street Fighter IV has been available in Japanese arcades since last summer, and will skip North American arcades altogether. And if you can’t wait until February 17th, for Street Fighter IV, check out Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix available for download in the next few weeks.

Blood of Bahamut

Square Enix has announced it’s latest RPG for the DS. First unveiled last week via a countdown page, Blood Of Bahamut will be an all-new Japanese RPG available exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The game takes place in a city built on the shoulders of a giant beast known as the Gigant, and will feature up to four player co-op. Although Bahamut dragons appear in several Final Fantasy games, it appears that Blood Of Bahamut will not be part of any established Final Fantasy series. Little is known about the title so far, but you can expect to see it released sometime in 2009.

Baby Come Back

The line between real and virtual life just keeps getting blurrier. A 28-year-old woman is filing for divorce from her real-life husband after she caught him cheating with a virtual woman from Second Life. She described it as quote “unreasonable behavior” and that it was quote “cheating as far as [she’s] concerned.” The good news is she’s already found herself a new man, she met him during a game of World Of Warcraft, or WoW. Wow indeed.

Pop goes the Scorpion

There’s been a little hiccup on the set of the Prince Of Persia movie. Production of the film, based on the popular series from Ubisoft, had to be halted after live scorpions used for filming in Mexico were accidently shipped to Pinewood Studios in England. The bad news, they got loose. Apparently most of the scorpions have been recaptured, but Pinewood employees have been told to watch their step just in case. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time stars Zodiac’s Jake Gyllenhall and will be released in 2010.

No strings attached

Looks like Guillermo del Toro wants to be a real boy. The Hellboy II and Pan’s Labrynth director is teaming up with the Jim Henson Co. for a stop motion version of Pinocchio. Looks like Del Toro wants a darker take on the classic fairytale. As previously covered, Del Toro has signed deals that will keep him making movies for at least the next 10 years, so no word on where this project will fall in that time line. Look for his next project, The Hobbit, due out in 2011.

Lazy Sunday

There’s a chance you might not be able to journey to the land of Narnia again, at least, not on a theater screen. Via press release, Walden Media has revealed that it quote “hopes to greenlight” the third Chronicles Of Narnia film, Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, soon, meaning the film is not as concrete as it once was. Following the box office failure of the last film, Prince Caspian, it wouldn’t be surprising if financier Buena Vista decided to cut their loses and not continue the series. We’ll have to wait and see.

First BlackBery President

All you kids that dream of being President someday might want to reconsider if you love your portable email. Apparently, Barack Obama is being forced to give up his beloved BlackBerry before he can become leader of the free world. The handheld devices, which are developed here in Canada, contain email messages that can be subpoenaed from the President by Congress. Obama’s aides are all recommending he give up the device to avoid public scrutiny.
