1942: Joint Strike

Pros

• Classic shoot 'em up action
• Sweet 3D graphics
• Different planes to choose from
• Co-op mode and weapons

Cons

• Graphics are a little too grey at times
• Even the ease difficulty is pretty hard

Bottom Line

A solid throwback to 80s arcade action.

Reviews

"Anybody who hung out in the arcades in the 80s will recognize 1942. It's a simple shooter that takes place in a sci-fi version of World War II. Sometimes after wave after wave of fighters, you'll have to tangle with massive tanks, jets, destroyers and other weird fantasy weapons. The most recent version provides the simple joy and action of a classic shoot 'em up, but with nice 3D graphics and co-op play, and that's where the game gets really fun. There are even weapons that players can use together, which is a blast. It's a tough game; even the easiest mode frequently floods the screen with hazards. However, the back-to-basic thrills stand the test of time."
