Civilization Revolution

Pros

• Surprisingly well done controls
• Lots and lots and lots of depth
• Simplified but effective combat
• Extremely compelling as ever
• Beautiful graphics

Cons

• Lacks the depth of PC versions of Civ
• Turn based play can get bogged down
• Graphics are a little chuggy with the advisors

Bottom Line

A console would not be more first choice to play Civilization on, but darn it all if Civilization Revolution doesn't do a great job of adapting to the platform.

Reviews

"Civilization has been a cornerstone of gaming for a very long time now, but it's always been most comfortable on a PC. That's still the case. However, the PS3 version of Civilization is surprisingly well done on all fronts. Although the game does not have the depth of the PC version, it is still a very deep game and still more than capable of keeping you up late at night to research one more technology or fight one more battle. Control of your units is also pretty intuitive thanks to a system that anticipates your moves, and it's easy to switch between cities to get things built. I was amazed just how good the game is at letting you manage Civ's many layers. Getting large units together to attack another civ is still better left to a mouse and keyboard, but it doesn't take much practice before you're sweeping across the continent, claiming everything in your path. And it's got great graphics too. A PC is still my first choice for Civilization, but Civilization Revolution on the console is a lot better than you might think."
