It gets off to a rough start, but stick with it. It's another triumph for the Tales series.

Reviews

"I am not a big fan of Japanese RPGs, but I will admit that the Tales series charms even me. It's just that good. This one gets off on the wrong foot, with repeated areas and lots of dumb anime cliches (why is it that Japanese RPGs are full of idiot heroes that watch enemies run away?). However, when the story finally picks up, I was hooked. The combat and item management is simple to handle, yet pretty deep with crafted items and "Overlimit," a powered attack mode that lets you kick extra ass. Give it a try, but ignore that first hour. Once you escape from the castle and get out into the wild, it's a Tales game through and through."
