Duke Nukem 3D

Pros

• Xbox gamepad controls make such a difference
• Level design is still worth a look
• Fantastic save/restore system
• Amusing achievements
• 8-player matches

Cons

• Graphics are *cough* slightly dated

Bottom Line

If you enjoyed it long ago, you will enjoy it again. And that saved game system ought to be mandatory for ALL games.

Reviews

"In the 12 years since the release of Duke Nukem 3D... okay now I am feeling really frickin' old so I'm going to abandon this intro. So here's the thing: Duke Nukem is currently known more as a punchline thanks to the long delayed Duke Nukem Forever, but the fact is that Duke Nukem 3D was a great game, cheesy lines ripped off from They Live and all. It had great level design, nice weapons and it didn't take itself seriously. This revival may be hard to look at because the graphics have not aged well (understatement), but the game is easy to play and enjoy thanks to an awesome save game system, which allows you to rewind to any point before you were killed like you were rewinding a DVD. I will seriously not be happy until this system is mandatory for every videogame henceforth. Duke XBLA is worth checking out for its nostalgia value alone. And if you're a new gamer, take a look at what was cutting edge in 1996. "
