"The open world game hasn't been done to death. Mercenaries 2 proves there's still lots of life and fun to be had with the genre. Mercenaries 2 offers a big world to explore, full of vehicles and things that go boom that can be ordered up at pretty much the touch of a button. The game just seems built to keep the action going no matter what, and if the only way to get through is spam a bunch of money on air strikes and blow up everything, so be it! Some wonky navigation and AI occasionally pops up, but there's just so much destruction and craziness in Mercenaries 2 that it's easy to give the faults a pass. It helps that Mercenaries doesn't take itself series. That joke with the Devastator rules."
