"While the premise of Dead Space isn't original (gooey monsters trying to rip your face off on a space station), I'm trying to remember when the concept was done better, and I can't. Dead Space is just awesome, and much of this is helped by a great interface that never takes you out of the game. Even when you're browsing your inventory, the game projects a hologram of it into the game world, and your character studies it as you make a selection. Most of Dead Space's scares are of the "Boo!" variety, though there are more than a few moments of unsettling creepiness and atmosphere that horror fans crave. There are lots of cool and clever moments, like navigating from platform to platform by jumping through Zero-G environments. Dead Space also has great graphics, strong atmosphere and an especially nice use of sound. An awesome job all around."
